Thanksgiving 2010

Hi Family ! I wanted to send along a couple of pictures of our table ... why I didn't get any photo's of family sitting around the table, I don't know. BUT - thought you would like to see Grandmother Bayless' china being used for a family dinner again. It gave those of us who were able to see / use it some nice reminders of when we were ALL together at Grandmother & Grandfather Bayless' for holiday dinners. Would love to have another one of those dinners some day - any time you can all make it, let me know. I'll set the table, make the food, and be so thankful to have you here. Happy Belated Thanksgiving & Many Wishes for Blessings this Holiday Season!

Halloween 2010 on the Ranch

Halloween 2010 with the Grandkids Halloween 21010 at the Ranch was fun. Mira knocked on our truck camper door. Grandpa (yep-that's Rob!) said, "Wow, what a great unicorn." Mira said, "No, I'm not a unicorn. I'm a unicorn disquised as a pegasus." !?!?! Cian was an "aroarable" lion. Does anyone remember Rob wearing a t-shirt as a little boy that said, "I'm aroarable"? Just so you know, he still is!

European Vacation!

Nathan, Randy, and Haley Horner (Evan's girlfriend) got to spend 10 days with Evan in Spain and France during mid-October. After enjoying a few days of Spanish life in Segovia, the city where Evan is currently studying, the troupe ventured to Madrid, Paris, and Barcelona. Many of the local foods were sampled and enjoyed, including paella, roast suckling pig, escargot, ponche, churros, and sangria. We checked out the Louvre, the Eiffel Tower, and the Cathedral Notre Dame (in Paris), the Gaudi works and Las Ramblas (in Barcelona), and futbol and bullfights (in Madrid). It was an amazing adventure with an excellent tour guide! [The photo is from Barceloneta Beach on the Mediterranean.]

Bayless Men in Canada

Sorry so tardy getting this posted. Uncle Thomas led a fearless expedition of Bayless men, including Robert, Randy and Evan into the Canadian wilderness for 8 days and nights in late August. Our first cabin was 200 miles north of Nestor Falls, Ontario via bush plane. The cabin was great but the weather was fearsome - 50s, windy and rainy. Uncle Thom apparently witnessed snowflakes at one point. The fishing began tough but by the end of our fourth day we had boated some nice pike - 36, 40 and 53 inches, and more walleye than we could eat. We flew south to a second lake and milder weather where we caught smallmouth bass and one nice muskie. Our fish were so impressive that the Nestor Falls outfitters published our photos in their blog. Robert and Evan regaled us with guitar tunes most evenings, and there were lots of laughs around the euchre table. Doubtless there will be another one of these trips in the future, so stay tuned!

Kristin and Friend

I am posting this picture with the hope that Kristin does not mind. I think it is soooo adorable - and thought the family might like to see it. This is from her trip (in October?) - Kris please clarify. I know the picture was taken at Anthony's Key in the Honduras... but you were on a cruise with multiple stops, correct?

February 2011

So Randall's 50th Birthday is coming up - February 5th, 2011. Anyone be interested in trying to get a family get together scheduled for that time? Maybe a Caribbean cruise? I'd be happy to investigate options and call to see if we could get a discounted group rate. Sure would be great to see all the family in one place !

Bayless boy's news - June 1, 2010

Jake has the kewlest job in town - lifeguard at a local country club. So far he hasn't overslept. May the bikinis not distract him from the serious work.

Alex is living in Fayetteville with his best buddy Boscoe. Theoretically it is a group project. He is really cute. So is the dog. We love them both.

Tennis Groupies

Happy Belated Kirk ! Hope it was an awesome day.
Rae - the images on your new website are great. Really showcase your beautiful creations so well !
This is a photo of Evan's tennis fan club. Greatest bunch of "groupies" ever! Awesome excuse to get together... oh, and the donut's Randy brings sure don't hurt anything either. Is there something wrong with that picture... we get together and eat donuts while watching Evan and his tennis partner whip their opponents?

Wabash Tennis in Orlando

Hello Family!
The Wabash Tennis Team went to Orlando for Spring Break to sharpen their skills on outdoor courts and get some R&R. With Evan's permission, Susan and I went along as 'Team Mom' (laundry engineer), 'Assistant Stringer' (hauled equipment) and supportive/rowdy fans. This year the team won 3 and lost 2 matches, much better than last years 0-5 record. I think that the players were all encouraged. They are young - no seniors - so things bode well for future. Evan was 4-1 in doubles and 1-0 in singles. In the photo (at right), Evan is standing center with a long-sleeved white shirt.
The weather was very pleasant while we were in Florida, especially after the long cold winter of 2009-10, and Spring decided to greet us back in Indiana (first thunderstorm was last night). The tennis team starts the second half of its season, the outdoor season, on Wednesday. If you're interested, you can follow the team at the Wabash Tennis website (http://www.wabash.edu/sports/tennis).
So far, Dad, Tom and Jamie have all come to indoor matches at the Wabash tennis facility and that has made it extra-special for us. Let me know if you can make it and we'll bring coffee and doughnuts!

Love to all-
Randy

I've been working hard this year on re-designing my Rae Ann Creations website to include a "Shop Jewelry" store. As of March 2, my new site is live! I'm adding new pieces everyday, so remember to visit often. Check it out and let me know what you think!

Hope everyone is well and smiling.

Keep Austin Weird

Laura came to visit me in Austin. We explored a cave, went to the roller derby, and a zebra bit my car.

All in all, not a bad weekend.

Ran & Jan in San Fran

Mom and I got to spend a few days in California during the week before Christmas. I was attending a convention for work and Mom came along to keep me company. We had a great time!

Rob and Cathy were our cabbies, concierges and companions. Mom and I were introduced to horse racing, and I confess that the Bayless ladies won more races than the Bayless men. Not sure I understand how you can pick a horse by the color of it's saddle, but it worked for the ladies and next time that's how I'm gonna pick em! We got to visit Saoirse, Michael and the kids. What a beautiful family. Rob and Cathy's brother Steve took me to a favorite night spot to watch the Colts bring home a win. There were lots of Colts fans there and that made it even better. GO COLTS! Afterwards I got a tour of some of Rob's old stomping grounds and got to meet Steve's family. All awesome.

Barb came to the city one day and she and Mom went shopping at Union Square. Our hotel was on the square and it was beautifully decorated with brightly lit palm trees (instead of evergreens). Every day and night the Square was packed with people that ice-skated to seasonal music. We rode the cable cars to the Wharf, ate at the Cliff House, and did all the touristy things.

Thanks for the hospitality! Hope we can do it again next year.

Mom and I both forgot to take cameras to California, so I don't have a photo from excursion. However, when everyone was together in October we took this photo and I thought you might enjoy it.

Love to everyone - Randy

Meeting Colin Powell

Met Colin Powell last week. He was guest speaker at the trade show I worked. Who knew - he's a pretty funny guy!
